The National @ The Orpheum

iPhone images by Karyn, video source: anelame1 on youtube.  My BFF from Victoria came over for a quick visit and a concert Monday and it was awesome. Karyn had tickets to “The National” (with openers “Local Natives” who are now one of my new favourites – check out “Stranger Things“).

The Orpheum is one of the most beautiful theatres I’ve seen (the most of course being the Palais Garnier, the home of the Opéra National de Paris) and it was SUCH a special place for a comforting, cozy, cool concert that is a National concert.

They thankfully played one of my all-time faves “Lemonworld” and pretty much the whole “High Violet” album with a few “Alligator” and “Boxer” gems thrown in (damn you “Slow Show” – you get me every time! If they had played “Racing Like A Pro” it would have been a lip-wobbling moment).  My favourite of the night (I’ve embedded the video above) was the unplugged “Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks” as the final song… the whole Orpheum sang along to acoustic guitars… it was heavenly!
