Ack! I’m so far behind posting my favourites from Fashion Weeks!  I’m still in New York!  I started a new job last week, so I’ve been working so late I’ve been too exhausted to post!  Proenza Schouler is always a fave of mine and this Fall 2012 RTW season is prolonging my obsession!  I’m LOVing the oversized coats (a little Samurai-inspired and makes me think a little of Balenciaga S2012 RTW) – I NEED that first white coat!  And that cool long-sleeved teal dress – reminds me of that cool “shark fin” dress they did a few season ago – I love that layering!  All images from Vogue.com.

My sweet friend Danielle had an extra ticket to the BC Home & Garden Show, so we bundled up against the strong winds and made our way to BC Place Saturday morning!  Jewellery, clothing, shingles, tiles, neat kitchen and cleaning gadgets and plants – it was so invigorating and made me wish spring would come so much faster!  We had lunch in the refurbished food court and i had Vij’s?!  I had a pork curry with yogurt, cilantro and green onion – it was delish!  I bought Ryan and I some air plants to put in glass terrariums in our apartment!  After we wandered the booths, we popped over to the pet store by BC Place and Danielle bought herself a little friend that she’s been wanting for a long time!  Yay adventure! Thanks Danielle, I had a blast!

I would have to say that my favorite show of NYFW was a surprise to me! I was ooh-ing and aah-ing over almost every look from J. Mendel’s F2012 RTW collection! Fur, colour, interesting cuts and detail, versatile separates, stunning gowns, this collection seems to have everything a woman could want! My favourite accessory, hands down, would have to be the gold booties from the 10th look I picked! All images from Vogue.com.

Along with so many others season to season, I’m enchanted with what Laura and Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte are creating!  And I believe that enchanted is the most appropriate word, as every collection has a such a whimsical feeling! This Fall collection was Australian outback inspired, with structured layers and warm fabrics, with a soft ethereal styling – i’ll definitely will be on the lookout for starred accessories!  The hair and makeup are my favourite of NYFW!  Images 1-4 from intothegloss.com, images 5-11 from Vogue.com.

Browsing through my iPhoto on a rainy dreary day, a few pictures that I took last summer and never posted!  A deliciously summery “Lemon Tea” beer by Mill St. Brewery, one of my favourite summer desserts – freshly picked raspberries with cream, a visit my cousin organized to see the seals at the Vancouver Aquarium’s MMR centre, and summer roses from my Mom’s and Mom-in-law Jeri’s garden!

So far, most of my favourite collections of this Fall RTW season have been from designers I wouldn’t have expected!  The heavy-hitters’ collections that usually wow me haven’t yet in any big way, and I’m really responding to the creativity and fresh new ideas from unexpected places!  Like Zero + Maria Cornejo this season!  Young and fresh cuts, colours, and styling, interesting layering and detail with luxurious textures and fabrics!  How gorgeous is that aqua balloon dress?!  And those desperately cool grey leather pants paired with a slouchy jersey tank and fur bolero jacket?  I love that mix of texture!  Elegance and modernity all wrapped into a beautiful collection!  All images from Vogue.com.

We had such lovely “spring” weather,  I fit in my weekly runs in the Park, though as usual, Rohe snoozed pretty much all day ;)  I took my new silver bluchers from Zara for a spin and we went to Holt Renfrew to pick up a few things for Ryan!  Ryan and I finally got to try the Roaming Dragon food truck and Ryan got a new job at an architecture firm!  To celebrate we tried Black Truffle Mast Brothers chocolate – earthy, salty with a cacao finish! A great week!

When I think of SUNO, I think of bold prints and lots of colour, and this Fall 2012 RTW collection did not disappoint!  The more I look at this collection, the more I love it!  I love the quiet power of the top two outfits – military inspired with interesting architectural cuts and detail, but still fresh and feminine! I can’t stop looking at the mix of prints in the 4th pictured look, the beautiful black and white floral print blazer with a hint of a light silky top underneath, paired with another floral print – which could conflict, but it just looks so perfect!  I hope I can get the courage to wear two floral prints together some day, because this look is SO spot on!  The orange stripe pants in the 5th look I picked out from the show could look clown-like or comical, but I love how they look paired with the striped blouse and olive green jacket!  Beautiful, thoughtful and powerful!  All images from Vogue.com.

Ryan and I have been wanting to try the Roaming Dragon food truck since we saw it on an episode of The Food Network’s “Eat Street” at least a year ago, but we’d never been able to coordinate our trips downtown to when it would be in its spot on Robson and Burrard and open!  Now since we LIVE downtown, we were determined to try the food we’ve been salivating over for so long, and yesterday, we DID!  (And it did not disappoint!)  We started with the Fried Rice Balls – Crispy and crunchy on the outside and packed with flavour on the inside (sausage, shrimp, chicken, mustard greens and rice), drizzled with a divine curry aioli that added a brightness to each bite – I’m craving them right now, we might have to walk back down Robson to grab a dozen for lunch!

We tried one of their specials – a Sloppy Duck – “sauteed ground duck on a Vietnamese bun with cucumber, coleslaw, pickled cabbage and red onion, mint and cilantro”.  It definitely lived up to its name!  The bun was PACKED so we ate with our forks!  I would highly recommend trying this special, the meat was so tender and flavourful, the bun was sweet and lightly toasted, the pickled veggies added a nice sourness, and the pops of cilantro and mint brightened the whole sandwich!  We washed our meals down with their Lychee Basil Lemonade,  sweet and fresh and aMAzing!  All in all an extremely delicious, fresh, flavourful, modern meal, unlike anything I’ve tasted so far – we will definitely be back!
